I'm originally from Liverpool and worked as a national magazine journalist for more than 30 years before suffering a stroke at age 53. I started blogging as part of a neuro-rehabilitation programme and wrote the very first entries with one finger of my disabled left hand. Later, art became another therapy for me at Headway East London's Submit To Love studios. I blog regularly and volunteer as a teaching assistant, coaching schoolchildren in aspects of journalism. Is that pain in my chest my heart bleeding, or is it just the urge to vomit?
Sorry, my regicidal tendencies are showing. (I’m not a republican, I just wouldn’t mind thinning them out a bit.)

Please, get thinning. It will make a great TV mini-series: Malcontent of the Midlands goes on “I’m no republican” death spree, starring Timothy Spall.

It is so tempting. Unfortunately I’m working on the reality show where we abandon two teams of celebrities on a desert island. That’s it – just leave them. Last one standing gets to eat all the others.
Maybe we go back to the island for a sequel in a couple of years. Maybe we don’t.
