Artwork Archive: Psychedelic Brain

In August 2013, I arrived at Headway East London after suffering a stroke.

This is the first painting I did in the studio and it was the start the start of a journey in which I used art to “deal with” my brain injury, to explore and self-analyse aspects of my newly acquired disability.

I went on to make series paintings first about the trauma of my stroke, about memory and attention, about emotion, and most recently about processing โ€“ how the brain figures out what we do, how to do it and in what order.

I guess all these art projects are my way of taking back control, an attempt to change the understanding of the word disability to mean this ability.
