I am trying to make comic-book/cartoon faces of some people I know. To reduce their look into a few simple lines…
This one is Chris. His face is all skewed and twisted, his mouth is contorted and his ears stick out. He has a beady look in his eye and his forehead is rippled with indented folds of skin.
It is drawn from a portrait of him I did some time ago.
The big question for me in doing this image is whether anyone other than me will recognise this picture as being Chris.
But maybe that is not so important. What is important is to create interesting characters that will hold the viewer’s attention.
