Home Studio: Bauhaus

The subject of the Headway Home Studio this week was The Bauhaus, with emphasis on costume. As a prompt, Alex supplied a styled shot of herself in two home-made costumes.

Two versions of Alex

The project for me was an excuse to get recklessly playful with geometry. The block colours were also a big pull. I never attempt to match the sample image, just take ideas from it and spin.

Alex doesn’t appear to show any posture in her staged shot, but one of the group’s artists, Ken, found a telling kink in her stance. I noticed it when we all showed our work. For me, that was the standout from the session. That there are character details always waiting to be spotted.
