Drabble: A Day Out In Broadstairs

A year ago they were in Broadstairs, on a coach trip for Folk Week and the antique shops.

She said it was Midsomer-sur-Mer, with all those creepy morris dancers. Some had blackened their faces, which seemed a bit racist. They scanned the scene for real black people, but drew a blank. The Guardian says the blacking-up is a tradition, something to do with chimney sweeps.

Later they sat on Tracy Coates (1960-1995), who loved the sea and Morelli’s ice cream. They did, too. On the way home they noticed that the Isle of Dogs was now the Greenwich Peninsula.

More of my drabbles.
